Return of a pop star

I was remembering Carly Rae Jepsen by her most popular song of all time "Call Me Maybe" but now, after she's back in the music world with her new album named Dedicated, I think she's giving us more reasons to remember her by. The album Dedicated is Carly's fourth studio album and it represents a return in her music career. Dedicated was released on May 17th, 2019 following the speculations after the release of her most popular song of this album called "Party For One" on November 1st, 2018. Carly is, in my opinion, a singer who creates easily remembered singles with the vibe of careless dancing around your house while cleaning or vibe you get at high school parties. A lot of people call her 'a queen of pop music' and it seems like she's true a workaholic because she wrote over two hundred songs for this album because she wanted everything to be perfect and she admitted: “I rarely write a song and am like, ‘It’s done!' It’s sort of my passion and obsession in a way: late at night being like, ‘I found the lyric!’ I envy writers that are like, ‘I just wrote this and put it on the album.’ I’m like, ‘How do you sleep at night?!’” That sounds like she always gives 110% of herself into her albums and her fans definitely appreciate it. It's nice to see a songwriter and singer who takes so much care of her songs and wants them to send a message to the world, to her fans and to teach them something through fun dance songs.

Inspired by disses

Taylor Swift has always been familiar with drama in music and love areas which inspired her in making new singles or even the whole albums about it. The album Reputation is her response to the disses by Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian West, and a famous singer Katy Perry. When it comes to Kanye West and his wife, all of the drama began back in 2009 when Kanye insulted Taylor publicly. Kanye made a scene at the VMAs when he rushed the stage and told Taylor Swift: “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I'mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time.” That made the whole world take Taylor's side in this drama and turn against Kanye. It looked so wrong, rude and disrespectful! Taylor was only 19 years old back then and he totally ruined her special moment. He apologized the same year. But was it sincere? In 2010, his apology inspired her to make a song "Innocent" after which Kanye kept apologizing. But, suddenly, in 2013 Kanye said he doesn't feel sorry for what he did back in 2009 and regrets his apology. Two years later, they finally found peace and became friends. It didn't take Kanye long to cause new drama with the release of his song "Famous" in which he, in front of the whole world, insulted Taylor with lines: "For all my Southside niggas that know me best I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex Why? I made that bitch famous (Goddamn) I made that bitch famous" in which he claimed to be the one who made Taylor Swift famous because, after the scene in 2009, her popularity increased drastically. He took the role of the victim here and Kim and him released the video of Taylor agreeing to these lyrics but in the video is shown that she heard only the lines: "For all my Southside niggas that know me best I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex" not the two lines after these where he took the credits for her popularity and success. Taylor released a statement where she said she wasn't aware of the lyric "I made that bitch famous" and that she's totally not okay with that. She also added Kanye wanting her to promote the single on her Twitter feed which she, of course, refused to do. Four days after Kanye's song was released, Taylor won an award for her album 1989 after what she said: "There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success, or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame, but if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there, and that will be the greatest feeling in the world." and we can all see who is she referring this to. On November 10th, 2017 Taylor released a new album called Reputation and she gave us much to talk about!

The Soulful Album

Stepping away from her pop and club roots, Rihanna made an album named ANTI which presents something she describes as soulful. In one of her interviews, Rihanna confessed she wants to make the music she will feel good singing in 15 years from now and that her already made music doesn't feel like herself anymore. She said: "I just wanted to focus on things that felt real, that felt soulful, that felt forever. I wanted songs that I could perform in 15 years; I wanted an album that I could perform in 15 years. Not any songs that were burnt out. I find that when I get on stage now, I don’t want to perform a lot of my songs because they don’t feel like me." It feels like Rihanna wanted to make something that would make an impact but by doing something people would never expect or doing the antithesis of what the public expects from her. ANTI is the eighth studio album by Barbadian world-known singer Rihanna. It was released on January 28th, 2016, through Westbury Road and Roc Nation as a free download. Rihanna has a writing credit on every song aside from “Same Ol' Mistakes” on this album, while on her fifth album named Loud, she has zero. Rihanna has created some amazing songs on this album and her fans are absolutely surprised in a positive way with it. Before writing this album, Rihanna was announced taking a break from music and just focusing to do whatever she wants creatively for a year. But that hiatus didn't take long and she was back into music world (her studio) after a week. She struggled with inspiration and creativity so she rented a house in Malibu for a couple of months where she was focusing herself on writing and making plans with her team which was included of various music artists. About that time of her life, she said: "It was in that moment that I trusted myself, trusted my ear, trusted my gut, trusted the way that my music made me feel. I had no idea how it would be received, neither was that something I considered. I just wanted to make a body of work that felt right!" And she truly succeeded in doing so!

Ariana Grande Is Thankful For The Past And Creating The Future

Ariana Grande's latest album, called thank u, next, seems to be a mixture of songs related to self-discovery, ambition, building confidence and being grateful for the past while creating the future. The "moral" of the album could be to accept the past as it is (while there's no way of changing it) and learn from it. Working on yourself, creating the best version of yourself and seeking self-discovery are the best choices every person can make. thank u, next is Ariana's fifth studio album and the first album in which she co-wrote every track, and it doesn't include any features. The album arrived just 5 months and 22 days after her fourth studio album called Sweetener. It seems like it was intentionally published after 5 months and 22 days since the date of unfortunate event of Manchester arena bombing occurred is 5/22. It's a quite interesting story how the name of album was decided or created. After Ariana Grande called off her engagement with American comedian and actor Pete Davidson, her ex-fiancé made a joke about it in a promotional clip for Saturday Night Live. Her response to the joke was writing two tweets, the first one was : "for somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh" and the second one was shorter but more precise and enough to make everyone talk about how she dissed her ex-fiancé, she just wrote : "thank u, next". It sounded like she isn't concerned about their failed engagement and that she's ready for next boy to bring some drama to her life. But is the homonymous single on her album really about that?
