"Don't Let Me Down (feat. Daya)"

It's okay "to not know how you feel about this one." Yes, it is featured on the Trolls soundtrack. Yes, it is cringe-worthy in it's display of the democratic dancing process. Plus, the main chords are basic and boring. For kids, this song's appeal is obvious. For adults, you should be embarrassed to fall under its spell. But with Timberlake adding his great voice and pop groove style to the mix, the argument that this is a slam dunk infectious hit could stand up to even the most critical scrutiny. Though this does sound like corporate sell-out territory, the rhythmic elements of the hook are funky and strong enough to salvage the track. It is designed to be replayed, not reviewed, it would seem.
"Can't Stop This Feeling" works if you embrace it's feel-good aesthetic, where you, the average joe, are working your hardest at that damn 9 to 5, and even though you can't dance, you must break-out during that 10 minute break in order to join a world of positivity, which occurs each time this track comes on the mega-store's sound system. The feeling is unstoppable, exclaims the lyrics, and the feeling is always waiting in one's body for the moment to spring out shamelessly and uninhibited. Within the dance parts, not surprisingly, instrumental elements take after Michael Jackson's feel good funk, with respect to the kick drum, and especially in the expressively melodic low end of the bass line. This video would be better if it showcased an all-kid cast bustin' their moves, because let's face it - the concept is juvenile, no matter how you look at it.

Lyrics

"Don't Let Me Down (feat. Daya)"

[Verse 1]
Crashing, hit a wall
Right now I need a miracle
Hurry up now, I need a miracle
Stranded, reaching out
I call your name but you're not around
I say your name but you're not around

[Chorus]
I need you, I need you, I need you right now
Yeah, I need you right now
So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
I think I'm losing my mind now
It's in my head, darling I hope
That you'll be here, when I need you the most
So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
D-Don't let me down
Don't let me down

[Post-Chorus]
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down
Don't let me down, down, down

[Verse 2]
R-r-running, out of time
I really thought you were on my side
But now there's nobody by my side

[Chorus]
I need you, I need you, I need you right now
Yeah, I need you right now
So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
I think I'm losing my mind now
It's in my head, darling I hope
That you'll be here, when I need you the most
So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
D-Don't let me down
Don't let me down

[Post-Chorus]
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down
Don't let me down, down, down

[Bridge]
Ooh, I think I'm losing my mind now, yeah
Ooh, I think I'm losing my mind now, yeah

[Chorus]
I need you, I need you, I need you right now
Yeah, I need you right now
So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
I think I'm losing my mind now
It's in my head, darling I hope
That you'll be here, when I need you the most
So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
Don't let me down

[Outro]
Yeah, don't let me down
Yeah, don't let me down
Don't let me down, oh no
Say don't let me down
Don't let me down, no-o
Don't let me down
Don't let me down, down
