"Middle (feat. Bipolar Sunshine)"

DJ Snake’s “Middle” is a colourfully somber approach to the topic of insecurity, chronicling the downward spiral of inner-monologues & outwardly projected shortcomings two individuals may endure in the lifespan of their relationship, confidently taking on such subjects without feeding too heavily on the negative aspects of these emotions. A light Tropical House vibe floats like vapours along the foundations of this track, with the jingle of xylophones & the hollow sound of melodic-bass kick drums guiding listeners along, painting a faint picture of the feelings held within. Rather than letting the music feel lethargic, trudging through the molasses-like crawl of Dubstep & Future Bass vibes often associated with sadness, this mix retains an upbeat skip from beginning to end, a bit of hopeful light shining through to encourage listeners that there’s always room for improvement, chances to find the good disguised in a less-than-ideal situation.
Vocalist Adio Marchant (Bipolar Sunshine) lends his vocals to “Middle,” providing a soothingly smooth timbre which feels earnest & passionate, allowing his performance to achieve an intimate-effect, as if written into a diary or spoken with the fear of rejection in mind; Not only does this put listeners in the correct headspace for the lyrics, it also relaxes them into the chime of the beat underneath, succumbing to the rhythm much like they would give in to the exhaustion of stress brought about by constant worrying, as Marchant does in each line he sings. When combined with the laid-back nature of DJ Snake’s beats, audiences are treated to a mix which satisfies both ends of the spectrum; People can feel bliss & euphoria from the meditative qualities of the song’s melodic structure, or they can relate to the feelings of inadequacy & insecurity relayed within its lyrics, a truly aqueous mix of values held by a single song. “Middle” certainly doesn’t flash the same bells & whistles as a typical DJ Snake song, but the restraint shown in its instrumentation is in fact more impressive than any wobble-bass or Moombahton-fueled mix he could write.

Lyrics

"Middle (feat. Bipolar Sunshine)"

[Verse 1]
Starin' at two different views on your window ledge
Coffee is going cold, it's like time froze
There you go wishin', floatin' down our wishin' well
It's like I'm always causin' problems, causin' hell
I didn't mean to put you through this, I can tell
We cannot sweep this under the carpet

[Chorus]
I hope that I can turn back the time
To make it all alright, all alright for us
I'll promise to build a new world for us two
With you in the middle

[Break]
(With you in the middle)
(With you in the middle)

[Verse 2]
Lyin' down beside you, what's goin' through your head?
The silence in the air felt like my soul froze
Am I just overthinking feelings I conceal?
This gut feeling I'm tryna get off me as well
I hope we find our missin' pieces and just chill
We cannot sweep it under the carpet

[Chorus]
I hope that I can turn back the time
To make it all alright, all alright for us
I'll promise to build a new world for us two
With you in the middle

[Break]
(With you in the middle)
(With you in the middle)
(With you)

[Outro]
(You)
站在中间,有谁站在中间
(You)
站在中间,有谁站在中间
