Third Time and Still Lucky

While many people love telenovelas and soap operas, I’ve never been much of a fan of these shows. My interests lay in much more interesting and captivating shows – music reality TV shows! Yes, it sounds cliché just sitting there watching a bunch of people sing other people’s songs, but it goes much deeper than that. It’s where many great musicians are discovered. Many of these popular artists would have never made it to the big screens if not for music shows. It was on one of those shows that the music boy band that gave us the best pop sound for years was discovered. I remember when I first saw One Direction on TV. If my memory serves me correctly, it was on x-factor season 7 thereabout. Five guys came on stage and completely blew us away with their voices. They would later be introduced as Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik. They were so adorable to watch and I kept rooting for them to win the season. They came out the third position, although that did not stop them from getting a record deal immediately after x-factor. Syco Records signed them, a record label owned by Simon Cowell. They have since produced 5 albums that were commercially successful, with many of them topping the charts in most major markets. Columbia Records, Sony Music, and Syco Music released their third studio album titled Midnight Memories on The 25th of November 2013. The band released two Singles ahead of the album to give us a taste of what to expect, and yes, the bite was good! “Best Song Ever” and “Story of My Life” went on to top major charts for weeks and weeks on end. The rest of the album did not get slower, it even went on to become the best-selling album in 2013 according to reports by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) with over four million copies sold worldwide. One Direction started working on the album on their second international tour and announced its release with the news of their third tour. All in all, Midnight Memories was a hit for me.
