"Beach House 3"

Did Ty Dolla $ign Do Enough on Beach House 3?

With the emergence and growth of social media, everyone and their dog, why that’s a thing I’ll never understand, has an account in which they share selfies, memories, and most of all their opinions. Sometimes, these opinions gather steam and support and start to become so loud that they almost become “fact” is some peoples eyes. Social media is typically just the very loud minority and overall has become a place that glorifies belittling, criticizing, pretty much shitting on any and everyone, with the occasional bit of positivity sprinkled here and there. It’s all about balance right? Think about it, the passive social media user that isn’t into music probably would wonder how J. Cole is a superstar if his music is so “boring”. I’ve had this debate more times than I’d like to so please, not today. That being said, another seemingly popular opinion is that Ty Dolla $ign is better served as a featured artist and hasn’t been able to really deliver for himself, the type of music that would propel him to the next level. The good news is, everyone seems to agree about his talent level, but there are a large number of people within and outside of the industry that believe he is lacking in some way as a solo act. I can certainly understand why some may think this way. After all, it was his feature on the 2010 YG hit “Toot it and Boot It” that helps launched both of their careers to the masses. In addition, over the years he has made a name for himself as being the deliverer of the chorus on some of our favorite records including, “Play No Games” by Big Sean, “I Think She Like Me” by Rick Ross, “It’s A Vibe” by 2 Chainz, Meek Mill’s “What You Need” and countless others. But what many seem to overlook, is that some of our favorite Ty Dolla $ign records, while they may feature other artists, are actually his records on his albums. Lets run a few off shall we? He has early singles, off Beach House EP, including “Paranoid” and “Or Nah”, and later ones such as “Blase”, “Campaign”, and “Zaddy”, shall I continue? Needless to say, Ty Dolla $ign has done enough on his own to convince me. Still on the fence? Perhaps a few listens to Beach House 3 can help change your mind.
