I can ‘hear’ Juice WRLD. His actual voice is uniquely his – an Afrocentric Pop-Punker, if that makes any sense – vicious rap skills (have you peeped his freestyles on five fingers of death?) mixed with a penchant for sad boy sentimentality accentuated with a ‘proper’ Standard American English ending on Alternative Rock hooks. It is this through-the-nose kind of speech, almost purposely naïve, with which Juice WRLD has made the most indelible impression on his young fans. Shoot, they were already with the shits, having devoured a sound made popular by the pioneer of this quality, Lil Uzi Vert.
