The period and circumstances that surrounded the production of Blackout were one of the toughest years for Britney Spears. Today, celebrity meltdown is as common as the sunrise but the fact remains that no celebrity meltdown has been talked about like Britney’s. Although the star had issues in the past, 2007 was like the year all the criticisms and personal issues she had endured really got to her. That was the year her divorce with her second husband was finalized so it is really shocking that the album that she released in the midst of all these was a hit. Despite all the happenings in her life, her musical talent was the one thing that refused to fail her. This was tested when the star released the album Blackout. The people that supervised the making of the album used it to test all their weirdest ideas but surprisingly, the tracks from the album still made a huge impact. Britney simply expressed how she felt about all the things that were going on in her life through the album. The album was a revolutionary statement. It is essentially a song about behaving badly, being wild and free without giving the slightest thought about what people think about you. Years later, this pattern of care free messages were sung again and again by different artists. The message has become even more accepted today than it was then. “The message that everybody has their own life to live so live yours and stop worrying about how I live mine”. I guess the lesson I want you all to remember is that despite all the things that Britney had gone through in 2007, the one thing that people remember her for is the same thing she does best - Music.

Blackout is the fifth studio album by American singer Britney Spears. It was released on October 25, 2007 through Jive Records.
